Apple's future VR headset

In the latest months, many rumors and hints point to the upcoming release of a brand new VR headset created by Apple that would combine VR and augmented reality technology.

At the moment, several headset prototypes are reported to be in the development stage. The final prototype could be launched during the year 2022. According to some indications, this virtual reality headset will be powered by an operating system called realityOS. This name has recently been registered by a company called Realityo Systems LLC, which is suspected to be a shell company used by Apple to hide its projects.

These informations are only whispers for the moment. But just a few days before Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2022), many fans are hoping for the long-awaited announcement of this new project.

According to some witnesses, the headset would be an advanced device that does not need to be connected to a computer. It would be powered by Apple’s in-house chips with both a powerful processing power and a powerful graphics part. This model could be declined in a family of products ranging from high-end VR headset to augmented reality glasses.

Apple has never hidden its interest in AR, and the firm already has the largest range of applications in the world. Their transfer to a platform dedicated to the headset would therefore be far from impossible, not to mention that it will provide an even more immersive experience.

Either way, we’ll have to be patient before Apple’s AR/VR headset goes into mass production.
